Standardization of PCR Testing Across Healthcare Testing Sites, A Frost & Sullivan Visual Whitepaper
Numerous testing and instrumentation options exist for infectious diseases and sexual health. Standardization provides significant benefits: simplification, consistent performance, and streamlining.
In the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic that required rapid development of tests, healthcare providers—especially at the point of care (POC)—have been purchasing a variety of POC testing solutions, often from numerous vendors, given the supply chain issues during this time. When the burden of high patient volume began to taper off, hospitals and doctors’ offices reassessed their needs and began consolidating the number of testing instruments.
When deciding which to keep and which to decommission, some instruments’ full capabilities and features should be considered.
The demand for more types of tests to be rapid will only increase. Standardized test menus on a vendor’s range of diagnostic instruments for both hospitals and POC can simplify the consolidation process, standardize test accuracy and performance, and simultaneously expand current testing capabilities—all while providing a consistent patient experience.
