Experten im Rampenlicht: Neechi Mosha

We’re proud to feature one of Cepheid’s inspiring voices in diagnostics, Neechi Mosha, Vice President of Global Product Management for Core Infectious Diseases. Neechi shared his insights on leadership, innovation, and the future of infectious disease testing. His thoughtful responses reflect a deep commitment to advancing healthcare and empowering teams across the globe.

We asked him to share more about his leadership style, his views on innovation, and what he sees on the horizon for infectious disease testing.

Warum haben Sie sich für Cepheid entschieden?

I joined Cepheid because I saw a rare opportunity to combine entrepreneurial energy with the strength of an established, mission-driven organization operating at scale. My background in building and scaling ventures made me deeply curious about how innovation can thrive within a company that already has such a strong foundation. Cepheid’s use of the Danaher Business System (DBS) and its ability to operate at such an enormous scale offered a unique learning environment—one where I could grow as a leader, while contributing meaningfully.

What truly sealed the decision for me was the global impact of Cepheid’s work. Coming from Tanzania, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges faced by healthcare systems in developing countries. Cepheid’s reach into these regions, alongside its influence in the U.S., resonated deeply with my personal mission. Leading a critical area within the company allows me to drive meaningful change and help shape the future of diagnostics in a way that matters.

Auf welche früheren Bildungs-, Forschungs- oder Berufserfahrungen sind Sie am meisten stolz?

One of the most defining experiences of my career was co-founding Alkeme Health, a mental health startup focused on serving the Black community. Our mission was to make therapy more accessible and affordable by allowing this community to use their insurance to work with a larger number of therapists—something that had been largely missing in the space. Building Alkeme from the ground up was both a professional challenge and a personal calling. It was incredibly rewarding to create a product that directly addressed the needs of a community that is often overlooked in the mental health conversation.

Why does the field of diagnostics or Cepheid's work bring you professional fulfillment?

My journey into healthcare began with a desire to help people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges, which is why I initially pursued medicine. Working at Cepheid brings me back to those roots—connecting me to the front lines of care while allowing me to influence outcomes at scale. It’s a rare blend of purpose and impact that few roles can offer.

Diagnostics is a powerful lever in healthcare. It’s often the first step in a patient’s journey. Getting it right can change everything. At Cepheid, I get to lead teams that develop products capable of transforming lives—not just in hospitals and clinics, but in communities around the world. That’s the kind of work that keeps me inspired every day.

Was inspiriert Sie außerhalb der Arbeit?

I’m deeply inspired by new experiences—especially those that come through travel. Growing up between the U.S. and Tanzania gave me a unique lens on the world and taught me the value of cultural diversity. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate what I learn from different places into my life and leadership. Whether it’s a new way of thinking, a local tradition, or a different approach to problem-solving, I believe that inspiration is everywhere if you’re open to it.

A recent trip to Mauritius for my grandmother’s 70th birthday reminded me of this. The island’s rich cultural and ecological diversity was a beautiful reminder of how much we can learn from the world around us. I often say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery—and I try to “copy” the best of what I see and apply it to my work and life.
