Suraj Satpathy leads global Human Resources at Cepheid, cultivating an authentic experience where every associate feels a sense of belonging, develops their potential, and meaningfully contributes towards Cepheid’s innovative diagnostic solutions.

Suraj’s career in the healthcare industry began when he earned his bachelor’s in Molecular & Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. From 2002 to 2004 he worked as a research associate at the Joint Genome Institute (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) conducting PCR amplification on the Human Genome Project.

Shifting from science to business, Suraj joined the Corporate Executive Board (now Gartner) as an associate, where he diagnosed function-specific challenges, created analytical frameworks, and delivered actionable insights to C-level executives and leadership teams. As an Engagement Manager, Suraj provided best practices research and advisory services to several pharmaceutical and healthcare CEOs and CHROs.

In 2008, Suraj returned to his healthcare roots and joined the human resources department at Gilead Sciences where he held multiple HR leadership roles and supported the company’s growth from 3,000 to 15,000 employees. From 2017 to 2021, Suraj relocated from San Francisco to London and served as Vice President and Head of HR for Gilead Sciences EMEA, a region comprising 45 countries, 4,500 employees and nearly $5 billion in annual revenues. In this role, Suraj was accountable for all aspects of people and culture and led an outcome-oriented talent approach.

Suraj joined Cepheid in December 2021, excited to enter Danaher’s unique culture of continuous growth and empower associates as they uphold Cepheid’s commitment to improving patient outcomes.
